Sensi Restaurant Honored by Gambero Rosso: Two Forks and the “Vegetarian Menu” Regional Award

A double honor for the Michelin-starred Amalfi restaurant Sensi Restaurant and for Chef Alessandro Tormolino’s culinary philosophy. In Gambero Rosso’s Ristoranti d’Italia 2027 guide, Sensi earned 84 out of 100 points—equivalent to “Due Forchette”—and received the “Il Menu Vegetariano” Regional Award, dedicated to promoting plant-based cuisine.

These two results confirm the value of an approach based on research, innovation, and respect for raw materials, in which the plant world plays a leading role.

In its review, Gambero Rosso highlights the breadth of Sensi’s culinary offerings, which range from seafood to meat, with a special focus on the vegetable garden. The guide describes the vegetarian menu as “a little gem,” singling out particularly noteworthy dishes, such as the one featuring cardoncello mushrooms.

This is a significant recognition for Alessandro Tormolino, who for years has been developing his own take on plant-based haute cuisine through “Esperienza Naturale,” a tasting menu that puts nature at the center and eliminates the “four whites.”

The “Il Menu Vegetariano” Regional Award thus serves as an important affirmation of the chef’s vision: a cuisine in which vegetables are not merely an alternative to meat or fish, but take center stage in a standalone gastronomic experience capable of expressing complexity, balance, and creativity.

Another defining feature of Sensi’s identity is the use of citric acidity—a distinctive element also highlighted by Gambero Rosso—which evokes the connection to Amalfi and helps make the chef’s cuisine instantly recognizable.

The “Due Forchette” award, the 84 points, and the Vegetarian Menu Regional Award all reflect a single culinary philosophy: to highlight the authenticity of ingredients through contemporary cuisine that is mindful and deeply rooted in the local area.
